Friday November 22, 2024

With Thanksgiving just around the corner, we have rounded up some final catering, event, and giving opportunities to help you get into the gratitude mindset. Check them out below:

Last Minute Catering

Whether you’re preparing for a Friendsgiving, hosting the in-laws for the first time, or keeping it low-key this year, these restaurants are here to help you set the table:

2fifty Texas BBQ
414 K Street NW
Let 2fifty Texas BBQ carve some of the anxiety out of your holiday by pre-ordering your Thanksgiving meal from its location at 414 K Street NW! Meat pre-orders are sold out, but you can still place an order for sides including trays of Mac n Cheese, Sweet Potato Mash, or Brisket Beans!

Chaia Tacos
615 I Street NW
Whether you are in need of the perfect dish to serve your vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free guests or are simply looking for a great side to contribute to an upcoming potluck, consider pre-ordering Thanksgiving Enchiladas from our friends at Chaia Tacos! Made with roasted butternut squash, black beans and wrapped in homemade tortillas, smothered in a vibrant, smoky tomato salsa asada, then finished with a sprinkle of fresh cilantro and crumbled goat and pepperjack cheese (vegan options available) the trays of 12 enchiladas can be picked up hot or ready to cook at home!

Festive Events

Turkey Day might be the main event of Thanksgiving Weekend but these MVT businesses are here to help you celebrate the four-day weekend to the fullest:

Ciel Social Club
601 K Street NW
Kick off the holiday weekend with an extended happy hour at Ciel Social Club from 5-10pm on Wednesday, November 22! Enjoy drink and food deals, gorgeous rooftop views, and cozy winter vibes. Reservations and walk-ins welcome!

dLeña
476 K Street NW
Fuel up for your Black Friday Shopping (or just avoid the shopping part entirely) with dLeña’s extended Black Friday Brunch! Beginning Friday, November 28 and continuing through Saturday & Sunday from 10am-3pm. All brunch dishes and cocktails are available as “bottomless” option or a la carte.

Opportunities to Give Back and Volunteer

We welcome Thanksgiving as a time to give back and look out for our less fortunate neighbors. Check out a few ways in and near Mount Vernon Triangle that you can give the gift of your time or money this season:

FRESHFARM MVT Market
5th & I Streets NW

There’s still time to donate to FRESHFARMS’s “Thanksgiving FRESH Food Drive“. This initiative benefits both the local farmers that sell at market and food recovery and emergency food assistance partners across the DMV.

Here’s how it works:

  1. During the month of November, community members make donations to FRESHFARM at the market information tent at any market location, or online.
  2. The week before Thanksgiving, FRESHFARM purchases fresh food at market, which it donates to food recovery and emergency food assistance partners.
  3. Partners prepare Thanksgiving meals for our hungry neighbors, using fresh food from the market.
  4. FRESHFARM’s small farmers earn additional revenue as they head into the winter season.

Safeway Feast of Sharing
Walter E. Washington Convention Center
The 25th Annual Safeway Feast of Sharing will be held on Wednesday, November 27 from 9am – 1pm at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center (801 Allen Y. Lew Place NW) and volunteers are needed to assist with the preparation! Check out the available shifts and learn more here.
