Vote Lina for a 2020 Sammie Award!
Friday May 8, 2020
Among the many things that make Mount Vernon Triangle special are the approximately 7,500 residents who choose to call our neighborhood home. Today we recognize one of these residents – Lina Alathari, Ph.D. – for her recent nomination as a 2020 Samuel J. Heyman Service to American Medal finalist!
Known as the “Oscars” for government service, The Sammie Awards highlight excellence in our federal workforce and inspire other talented and dedicated individuals to go into public service. Lina was recognized for developing threat assessment guidelines and working with law enforcement, educators and local communities to intervene and prevent possible mass shootings in schools, workplaces and public spaces.
Voting for the 2020 People’s Choice Award is now underway, so read Lina’s profile to learn about her accomplishment, then vote for your top picks on the poll page. You may vote for as many finalists as you want, and you may submit your votes once every 24 hours. Throughout the voting period, we will narrow the field and reset the poll for the remaining top contenders. Be sure to vote for your favorites often to keep them in the running for additional recognition. The timeline for voting is as follows:
- Tuesday, May 26 at 9 AM ET – Announcement of the top 12, voting begins for the top 5
- Wednesday, June 10 at 9 AM ET – Announcement of the top 5, voting begins for the final winner
- Friday, June 26 at 8:59 PM ET – Voting closes
