Stop by Milian Park (499 Massachusetts Avenue NW) on Saturday, September 23 to browse used books for $6 & under and listen to original stories presented by a specially curated group of storytellers who are all immigrants and first-generation!
Carpe Librum will be popping-up from 9am-3:30pm with a selection of lightly used books, CDs, and DVDs all for sale under $6. The proceeds from the sale go to support the nonprofit, Turning the Page which works to provide opportunities for parents to actively participate in their children’s education.
MVT CID has also partnered with Comedy Bonfyre to assemble four DC-based storytellers to recite their original work centered on immigrant and first generation stories in Milian Park from 10:30am-12:30pm. Author Muzna Abbas will also do a live reading from her new book, “Letters to my Brown Mother” which is about exploring mental health stigma and struggles in the South Asian diaspora and will have copies available for purchase after the reading.
