New Campaign Encourages Everyone to #MaskUpMVT

Tuesday October 20, 2020

The votes are in and there’s no debate here: Mount Vernon Triangle is a mask on community. This has been reinforced by results from our recent survey in support of updates to our organizational strategic plan, in which respondents overwhelmingly identified mask wearing as a key contributor to feelings of both safety and security as well as fear and worry during COVID-19.

In support of this overwhelming community feedback, we’ve worked closely with a DC-based artist and STREETPLUS – our provider of street cleaning services – to launch #MaskUpMVT. Through a series of vibrant poll signs and banners located across Mount Vernon Triangle, the campaign promotes neighborhood safety by urging community members to follow health guidelines and go mask on. After putting one on for your city, share your mask photos online by tagging @mvtcid and including the hashtag #MaskUpMVT.

These banners eventually will all replace the blue “thank you” banners installed in May to show gratitude for our frontline workers. Banners from the “MVT Goes Blue” campaign will be delivered to area hospitals and other first responders in appreciation for their sacrifices in support of our community’s health and well-being during COVID-19.
