Now Available for Purchase from HEMPHILL Artworks: Handful #2 by Steven Cushner

Friday July 3, 2020

Last week we shared an offer from HEMPHILL Artworks to begin or add to your art collection by purchasing the print “54th Massachusetts”—a print by Rushern Baker IV being sold at a cost that’s below the typical price point for prints at this level of quality. As part of HEMPHILL’s effort to invigorate the vital relationship between our community members and various artists, they are offering multiple prints at reduced prices with an ambition to activate your engagement for the intrinsic benefit of art and donating a portion of the proceeds from each print to various organizations.

This week’s featured print, Handful #2 by Steven Cushner, is available for $450 (shipping included) with a portion of the proceeds from sales of this artwork being donated to Art Enables. Established in 2001, Art Enables provides artists with disabilities the creative and vocational training needed to become proud, professional artists.

Artist Statement: “This is the seed of most everything I have created in the last 40 years. The mother of all motifs, what Richard Serra might call a prime object. It’s been big, small, oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, ink, woodcut, silkscreen, monochromatic, full color. It’s been clasping hands, rushing tides, waves, whirlpool, riptide, rainbow. Right and left, over, under, sideways, down. Cat’s cradle, good luck charm, significant, mindless.”Steven Cushner, June 2020
