Event Recap: PARK(ing) Day 2020 in MVT
Friday September 25, 2020
Last Friday, September 18, MVT CID celebrated PARK(ing) Day 2020—a global event occurring each September aimed at reclaiming on-street parking spaces by temporarily transforming them into exciting and imaginative park spaces or “parklets.”
During this period of heightened uncertainty, we felt it was especially important to showcase the various initiatives that we continue to work, in partnership, to implement in support of our community’s continued growth and maturation. And that’s why in addition to hosting an actual parklet designed and built by our very own Clean Team in front of Lydian+Lyric Apartments at 400 K Street NW, we also provided participants and partners the option to participate in the PARK(ing) Day experience virtually by Zoom. Photos of our parklet can be viewed by visiting our online photo album.
A special note of thanks to the following partners for their support of this year’s program:
- District Department of Transportation, NoMa/MVT Bicycle Study & K Street Protected Bicycle Lanes
- District Department of Parks and Recreation, Cobb Park Phase One Reactivation & “Ready2Play” District Master Plan
- EL Studio & urbanSEED, Prather’s Alley Safety Infrastructure Improvements Project
- Pepco, Capital Grid & Mount Vernon Substation Projects
- Metropolitan Police Department’s First District, Open Discussion on Public Safety led by Capt. Jonathan Dorrough
