Meet Tasha Bryant, MPD’s New First District Commander
Friday March 25, 2022
“We have challenges and will get through them together. We want everyone to feel valued.”
Those were words shared by Tasha Bryant, the new Commander of Metropolitan Police Department’s First District, which includes Mount Vernon Triangle. Commander Bryant is certainly no stranger to Mount Vernon Triangle, joining MVT CID and other city partners on our visit with multiple Mount Vernon Triangle businesses in early February; and participating in this March 3 profile as part of MVT CID’s celebration of Women’s History Month.
Yesterday, MVT CID visited the First District station to congratulate Cmdr. Bryant on the new role as well as discuss a myriad of subjects important to the continued safety and well-being of our Mount Vernon Triangle community. Joining the meeting was Capt. Jonathan Dorrough, who oversees Police Service Area (PSA) 101 that includes all of Mount Vernon Triangle.
The visit furthered the organization’s already-strong partnership with MPD’s First District, which started with Chief Robert Contee and continued under Assistant Chief Morgan Kane (when both were First District Commanders), and continued with our July 2021 visit with Cmdr. Ralph McLean, MPD’s longest active tenured officer who now leads the department’s Fifth District. MVT CID thanks Cmdr. McLean for his partnership during his time as First District Commander and wishes him well in his new post!
We welcome Cmdr. Bryant to her new role at First District and look forward to our continued close work together for the benefit of our Mount Vernon Triangle community in the years to come!
